Responsible for all phases of the design and programming of building automation systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety, substance abuse prevention and employment policies and procedures.
Complies with and ensures compliance with Tri-M’s standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
Complies with customer and jobsite safety requirements and procedures, and ensures subcontractors do the same.
Performs design and project management or programming and project management on at least two large projects, preferably $400,000 or larger.
Selects and manages subcontractors on at least two projects.
Produces revenue with total volume of annual recognized costs of $625,000.
Independently performs all engineering tasks on at least 8 medium size projects (preferably of $100,000 to $200,000) including: project management; design; sequence of operations; controller software; front end hardware set up; all front-end software creation and set up; system functional testing; customer training; and job commissioning.
Performs job reconciliation of at least four jobs that are at least $50,000 or larger as acting project manager.
Meets all project deadlines and works within budget hours.
Assists in creating/editing customer graphics, schedules, alarms, reports and front end related programs for building automation systems.
Installs customer graphics at site as required.
Assembles, tests, installs and backs up front end for customer as required.
Performs employee and customer training as required
Completes all system software prior to the beginning of system checkout.
Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with all customers.
Ensures that response time on projects meets established Tri-M turn around times.
Performs or assists with job estimates/takeoffs as required.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
Minimum total of 6 years’ experience as Assistant Engineer and Project Engineer I or equivalent engineering experience in building automation systems.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
Intermediate knowledge of drafting software (preferably AutoCAD)
Intermediate knowledge of building automations systems programming.
Intermediate knowledge of communications protocols (BACnet IP/MSTP, Modbus)
Basic general programming experience (Visual Basic, Fortran, C++, Pascal)
Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Excellent human relations and communication skills.
Ability to think and make decisions independently within the guidelines provided.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Working a minimum of 40 hours/week
Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
Hearing adequate for phone use.
Standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and walking as needed to perform site surveys to collect data for project design.

Environmental factors include working in: temperature extremes of 0 F to 100 F up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces.
Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards.
Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves and hearing protection
