Summary Description

Responsible for the organization and implementation of all project and service related work. Direct duties include contract review, project deployment, project scheduling, material acquisition, vendor/end user interaction, cost management, attending project meetings, timely invoicing, and administering project close out procedures.  

Duties and Responsibilities                                

Essential Functions:

  • Manages all project and service related resources ensuring project performance goals are met and completed within budget
  • Manages assigned personnel, maximizes career development and conducts timely performance evaluations
  • Prepares revenue forecasting and cost reports as required
  • Reads and interprets contracts and understands all provisions in order to protect the company’s interests and ensure prompt payment of invoices
  • Prepares estimates, generates proposals and submits contractual change directives as needed
  • Ensures that accurate and timely invoicing is submitted per contractual requirements to ensure prompt payment
  • Reads and understands plans and specifications for projects to fully comprehend project requirements
  • Develops specific project plans ensuring contractual obligations are met and efficiencies are maximized
  • Assures timely completion of punch list items and coordinates proper project closeout documentation and processes
  • Assures proper submittal documentation is prepared as required
  • Coordinates material and equipment procurement with purchasing department
  • Ensures appropriate project staffing and coordinates with project foreperson/superintendent with manpower scheduling.  Appropriately authorizes all project related overtime hours
  • Provides technical assistance and support for all field personnel when needed.
  • Meets with customers to review and define project scope of work
  • Inspects project installations and assures quality control and cost effective installation methods are implemented
  • Conducts and manages project kickoff process ensuring all related personnel understand project scope and responsibilities

Job Qualifications

 Skills & Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in network service project management implementation
  • Industry related installation/design certifications including BICSI are preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of computer literacy including word processing, formatting spreadsheets, processing emails and database management
  • Above average math skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multi task
  • Good attention to detail and self-starter
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people including the ability to handle difficult situations in a professional, constructive manner
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the cabling industry including intra building, inter building, aerial and underground cable and fiber optic methodologies
  • Industry related installation/design certifications including BICSI are preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints for the purpose of designing cable plant configurations and estimating labor and material for effective completion
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location/office
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally to jobsites as needed

 Physical Requirements:

  • Working a minimum of 40 hours/week 
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing
  • Vision adequate for daily and consistent computer use and reading
  • Hearing adequate for phone use
  • Standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, and walking as needed to perform site surveys to collect data for project design
  • Balance adequate for climbing ladders, scaffolds, and lifts
  • Environmental factors include working in:  temperature extremes of 0 F to 100 F up to 8 hours inside or outside; atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors; and poor ventilation in confined spaces
  • Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and explosive hazards
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task.  Other equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, etc.
  • Ability to visit construction jobsites including walking on uneven terrain, occasionally climbing, stooping, squatting and exposure to temperature extremes and the “elements” to perform site surveys and collect data for project design
