Summary Description

Under the supervision of the Training and Development Specialist, this position is responsible for providing trade education, supervision, and career guidance to entry level apprentices.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Essential Functions:

  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the apprentice program in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures.  
  • Coach, mentor and develop apprentices and provide career development planning and opportunities. 
  • Design, develop and deliver hard skill training programs using a variety of instructional techniques. 
  • Participate in interview and selection of apprentices.  
  • Coordinates with manpower teams to identify placement of employees and manage the training rotation cycle.
  • Identify skill gaps between high potential talent for succession planning; leverage gap analysis to determine learning priorities.  
  • Deliver state approved apprentice training.
  • Monitor efficiency of training ensuring optimal return on investment. 

Job Qualifications 

Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years in the Electrical Trade, Electrical Journeyperson preferred. 
  • Strong Knowledge of the NEC.
  • OSHA 10hr or 30hr Card.
  • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as execute projects and assignments independently.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products-Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills 
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 hour shifts.
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
  • Walk approximately 5miles per day – outside in heat or cold
  • Climb 20 flights of stairs  each day – outside in heat or cold 
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
  • Vision adequate for computer use and reading. 
  • Hearing adequate for phone use.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task.  Other equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection.
  • Ability to visit construction jobsites including walking on uneven terrain, occasionally climbing, stooping, squatting and exposure to temperature extremes and the “elements”.
