 Summary Description

Provides primary company-wide computer and software support services to ensure the stability, integrity, and proper operations of in-house computer and network infrastructure hardware and software.  Assist in determining internal hardware, software, network, and voice/data long-term direction.

 Duties and Responsibilities

 Essential Functions:

  • Performs the purchase, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all support requests, determines if the issue is a computer hardware/software problem and addresses it or escalate it to network/server support personnel.
  • Maintains and tracks computer hardware inventory, software inventory, and peripheral equipment.
  • Performs maintenance on field laptops to ensure all the latest patches have been applied, virus protection is up-to-date and functioning, and checks for non-company required software.
  • Performs the purchase, set up and returns of cellular devices including, but not limited to, cell phones and iPads.
  • Manages data backup systems.  Monitors backup software to make sure backups are completed.  Restores files as requested.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans associated with computer hardware and software.
  • Collaborates with Director of IT Services to assess near- and long-term computer and software needs.
  • Assists in maintaining company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
  • Assists with monitoring network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.
  • Assists in creating, maintaining, and removing user accounts.
  • Assists in maintaining file and folder organization on network file servers.  Works with end users to determine file and folder naming schemes.
  • Maintains certification and training as required in computer operating systems, application software, and computer hardware.
  • Performs scheduled and impromptu training on software applications to improve end user efficiency.  Works with end user to evaluate current work processes and develop more streamlined approaches.
  • As directed, conducts research on network products, services, software, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the computing industry.
  • Assists in developing annual internal IT budget for company.

Job Qualifications 

Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related field preferred with 2 to 3 years’ experience supporting computer hardware and software.  Or, equivalent experience with a minimum of 6 to 7 years’ supporting computer hardware or software.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Software Products a must, to include Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Hands-on experience with computer configuration, setup, upgrades, and repair, required.
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies and obtain additional certifications as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, prioritizing, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working a minimum of 40 hours/week
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
  • Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
  • Hearing adequate for phone use.
