Summary Description

The Operations Engineer uses a process engineering approach to increase field labor productivity.  Evaluates, monitors and reports on productivity KPIs.  Responsible for year over year field labor productivity increases.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates and monitors productive, secondary and recoverable lost time in our field operations, and implements methods to maximize productive time
  • Performs regular time studies of tasks in the field and works to improve current production time as needed, to ensure the team is working smarter, not harder
  • Reports regularly on p/s/rlt performance, specific project efficiency improvements, etc.
  • Assists with project logistical plans to maximize productive time.
  • Assists in setting up the material delivery/ handling process at the project site.
  • Researches and implements new technology and processes for labor savings.
  • Evaluates tools and equipment for optimum efficiency and suggests and implements approved tools and equipment as needed.
  • Utilizes a system approach to maximize efficiency, reduce waste (labor & material), and drive consistent execution
  • Evaluates and suggests improvements to the virtual construction manufacturing process and delivery as needed for optimum efficiency.
  • Works with the estimating team to ensure field labor data is transferred back to the estimating database on a regular basis.
  • Documents improved processes to develop standard guidelines.

Job Qualifications 

Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related field.
  • Five plus years Industrial Engineering experience. 
  • Demonstrated problem solving and logical thinking ability
  • General knowledge of construction business desirable but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization to ensure understanding and ownership at the various levels
  • Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Working a minimum of 40 hours/week
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
  • Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
  • Hearing adequate for phone use.
