The BIM manager works directly with project managers and estimators in developing and updating a 3D model throughout the project’s life cycle and identify any challenges before they become an issue.  Participates in problem solving efforts for the project using BIM applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Essential Functions:

  • Works with Project Managers, field Supervisors and subcontractors at the project level to complete BIM requirements and execute BIM plans.
  • Manages software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases, customization of the product and staying up to date on best practices for use of Revit Architecture and BIM.
  • Oversees BIM standards development, implementation and enforcement.
  • Provides day to day support of BIM, CAD and project technology with the objective for the projects to meet deadlines with high standard deliverables.
  • Creates upgrade and deployment strategies for the BIM implementation effort.
  • Provides quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of all shop drawings produced.
  • Provides hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production and supports the BIM technology needs at our satellite offices.
  • Assists project management and estimating with future planning for potential uses of BIM, cost estimating, specification management and integrate project delivery.
  • Conducts internal training and continuing education on Revit Architecture Fundamental.
  • Works with the Virtual C manager to develop and design VC options and create design documents.
  • Works with the VC manager to create spool sheets and required VC documents for production.
  • Works with Operations to ensure a seamless process from Design to production in the field.
  • Monitors the use of Plangrid and ensures the most efficient process for its use. 

Job Qualifications 

Skills/Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or technology or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of directly-related experience as a BIM manager or coordinator.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry, electrical preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and proven practical background in Revit and related BIM software.
  • Solid understanding of CAD applications and practices, particularly AutoCAD.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Working a minimum of 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8 - 10 hour shifts. 
  • Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
  • Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
  • Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
  • Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
  • Hearing adequate for phone use.
